Bernard Ronald “Ron” Ryan, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1935, in Chicago, IL, the son of Bernard Francis and Catherine Alice (Erlacher) Ryan. He was united in marriage to Edith Therese Fobert on June 18, 1955 in Chicago.
Ron worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company (later ATT&T) for over 38 years. He had enjoyed visits to Northern Wisconsin since the age of ten and after retirement moved permanently to his cabin on Pokegama Lake near Minong. He was a hard worker who took great pride caring for his property and also enjoyed woodworking. Most of all, Ron was a devoted family man and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family.
He is survived by his children, Debbie (Ken) Boguslawski of Beecher, IL, Nancy (Greg) Charlton of Midlothian, IL, Kim (Larry) Hogan of Oak Forest, IL, Tim (Carol) Ryan of Palos Heights, IL, and Bernie (Colleen) Ryan of Oak Forest, IL; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his siblings, Donny Ryan of Oak Lawn, IL, Kay Walsh of Fort Mill, SC, Joyce Kickels of Lenoir City, TN, and Patty Ryan of Oswego, IL; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Ryan; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron is proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Edith Therese Ryan; his son, Bernard Bruce Ryan; and his brothers, Jim and Larry Ryan.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Midlothian, IL, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of Mass.
Mass will also be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minong, WI, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of Mass.
