Mae Maznio Obituary

Mae T. Maznio, age 91, of Cable, WI passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Aspen Acres Assisted Living in Hayward, WI.

Mae Teresa was born May 1, 1927 in Eau Claire, WI the daughter of Frank and Harriet Roach.  She was raised in Eau Claire and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Eau Claire.  She continued her education at University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire for one year before going to work for Luther Hospital.  On February 21, 1950, Mae was joined in marriage to Metro Maznio, Jr. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire.  Together they raised four children while establishing Metro’s Ski Inn in Cable, WI.  They operated the inn for 65 years before retiring.  She was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Cable and also enjoyed playing bridge and bowling.  Mae was always thought of as a sweet lady with a sharp wit right up to the end. 

Mae is survived by her husband of 68 years, Metro Maznio, Jr.; children, Karyn (Bill) Rasmussen of Hayward, WI, Metro (Jo) Maznio III of Cable, WI, Steve (Maureen) Maznio of Glenwood Springs, CO, Terese Maznio of Ashland, WI; grandchildren, Dana (Todd) Goold, Will (April) Rasmussen, Jason Rasmussen, Jessica Rasmussen, John Maznio, Luke Maznio; five great grandchildren; siblings, Alice (LeRoy) Drinkman of Eau Claire, WI, Nancy Glocke of Brunsville, MN, Patrick Roach of Wichita, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Barbara Haugen, Joan Goethel and Janet Robillard. 

A graveside service will be held at the St. Anne Catholic Cemetery in the spring of this year with Father Gerard Willger officiating. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who cared for Mae, especially the staff at Aspen Acres Assisted Living and Regional Hospice.
