Muriel Vig Obituary

Muriel Joyce Vig, 89, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2019 at the home of a dear cousin.

She was born in Spooner, WI at the Pierce Family Homestead on October 23, 1929 to Earl (Tad) Love Hanson and Elva Frances Pierce. She graduated from Spooner High School in 1947. She met the love of her life, Robert Irving Vig, and they were married in Pine City, MN on August 23, 1947. She worked for Smitty’s Café as a waitress, for Link Bros. as a meat cutter and wrapper, and also for Norm Adams making Christmas wreaths and roping. She will be remembered for her love of knitting and crocheting, her sewing, her Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus dolls, and her love of writing poetry. Also, for her Flower Shop and Evergreen business where she employed several people and offered help in any way she could for anyone and everyone. She loved people and missed her job at Walmart in the shoe department. She shared her love and knowledge of gardening and canning with her children and grandchildren. She taught her children how to live by raising animals, gardening, and berry picking. She loved God, the old ways and lifestyles, and instilled all of these into her family’s way of life. She had an impact on everyone she interacted with. There truly are not enough words to describe the many attributes of her life. She was loved and will be missed by all.

Muriel was preceded in death by her Grandparents, George and Lyda Pierce; parents, Earl (Tad) Hanson and Elva Pierce; Husband, Robert I Vig; Daughter, Brenda Lea Vig; Son, John Robert Vig; and Great-Granddaughter, Harper Holmstrom.

She is survived by Daughter, Laurie Vig Rodriguez (John Rodriguez); Son, Christopher Vig (Shannon DelVecchio) ; also, Charlie Gott, and Diane Paradice. By her Grandchildren, Carl Johnson, Stacey Vig, Angie Johnson, Alicia Vig, Kristine Johnson, Robert Vig, Lindsey Roberg, and Amanda Holmstrom. By her Great-Grandchildren, Dylan Johnson, Emma Johnson, Chloe Herrick, Olive Holmstrom, Piper Roberg, Sawyer Roberg, and Scarlett Holmstrom.
