Charles John Khalar

Charles John Khalar, 74, of Lake Nebagamon, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Charles was born on September 13, 1946, in Superior, WI, to Melvin and Mary (Hora) Khalar.  He worked road maintenance for the Town of Highland, WI, for 51 years.  It was said that he could frost a cake with a grader.  He also farmed on the family homestead.  Charles married Donna Bornholdt on June 13, 1986, in Lake Nebagamon, WI.  He loved hunting and fishing, watching westerns, and smoking fish.

Charles is survived by his wife, Donna; one daughter, Cindy khalar Spinner (Chad); one son, Charles “Scott” Khalar (Cathy); step-children, Jeffrey, Laura, and Thomas; grandchildren, Michael and Julianna Khalar; and several step-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George.

A private family service was held due to the current COVID-19 restrictions.  A public committal service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 12592 E County Road S, Lake Nebagamon, WI 54849.
