Doris M Olson

Doris Olson, age 98, a resident of Spooner passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Doris was born on April 19, 1925, to George and Pauline (Meyer) Peacy in Ashland, WI, where she attended school until her graduation in 1943.  She spent the war years working in Chicago for the U.S. Government and the Illinois Bell Telephone Company until the death of her father.  At that time she returned home to Ashland and worked at Lake Superior Power Company until the autumn of 1951.

She married Chester L. Olson, on September 20, 1952, at St. Agnes Church in Ashland. Chet and Doris were married for 55 years and opened their hearts and home to raising two children.

While in Ashland she served as leader of Girl Scouts.  In 1960 they moved to Spooner where she resided until her death.

Doris was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Church and served many years as president of their altar society.  She enjoyed crafts, knitting, sewing, gardening and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, four sisters and her husband, Chet. 

Survivors include her son, Dan (Pam) Olson, her daughter, Lydia (Brian) Cook; grandchildren, Nicole (Jake) Kleiner, Taylor (Rhi) Olson, Noah Olson, Garrett and Gunnar Cook; great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Miles Kleiner; and brother, Robert (Beverly) Peacy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Mass for Doris will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11am, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Fr. Phil Juza as celebrant.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, at the Church from 10-11am.  Interment will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
