Jean Marie Dauplaise

Jean M. Dauplaise, age 58, of Solon Springs, WI passed away from natural causes on Friday, March 8, 2024, at her home. 

Jean Marie Dauplaise was born May 10, 1965, in Superior, WI, the daughter of Robert and Joan (Bashara) Dauplaise.  She was raised in Superior and graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1983.  After high school she attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she received a bachelor’s degree in Fine and Studio Arts, master’s degree in education.  She then earned a master’s degree in English Language and Literature from University of Minnesota-Duluth followed by a doctorate from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  Jean started work as a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.  She would teach at Stout for several years and then broadened her horizons as a professor of English in Hong Kong for two years. Upon her return to the United States, she worked as a professor for a community college in Texas.  Jean moved to Solon Springs, WI in 2016.  Jean’s favorite hobbies were painting, jewelry making, and writing.  She was a member of the St. Croix Writers group and loved spending time with her family and numerous pets.  She loved her two nephews and enjoyed watching them in sports and helping them learn as they grew.   

Jean is survived by her mother, Joan (John Shupe) Dauplaise of Solon Springs; one brother, Jon Dauplaise of Knoxville, TN; two nephews, Austin and Travis Dauplaise, both of Duluth, MN.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Dauplaise.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jean at St. Pius Catholic Church in Solon Springs, WI at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, with Father Balaraju Policetty officiating.  Interment will be in the St. Pius Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
