Joan Elizabeth (Kuckler) Schmitz

Joan Elizabeth Schmitz, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN as a result from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.  She was born on August 30, 1953, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Gordon and Rosemary (Abel) Kuckler.  She was united in marriage to Gregory William Schmitz on June 7, 1974, in St. Paul, MN. 

Joan was the owner and operator of Country Creations Beauty Shop in Solon Springs for thirty years.  She loved gardening, crocheting, raising chickens and was a very creative cook.  The most important thing in Joan’s life was her family and she cherished the time spent with them.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Greg of Gordon, WI; her children, Joe (Tracy) Schmitz of Cloquet, MN, Nick (fiancé Becca) Schmitz of Gordon, WI, and Sheila (Brandon) Topper of Eau Claire, WI; her grandchildren, Joe, Brad, Cora, Alexis, Gabby, Ben, Noah, Natalia, Gianna, Josy, Isabelle, and Sophie; her sisters, Sue, Mary, and Jeanne; her brothers, Mark, Jimmy, David, and Charlie; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, John Kuckler.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Solon Springs Funeral Home, 9005 E. Biller Loop in Solon Springs.  Interment will be held privately.
