Peter Gustave Holk, age 87, of Drummond, WI, died on Friday, November 10, 2023, at his home.
Peter was born on April 12, 1936, in Saukville, WI to parents, Albert and Sophia (Kwasigroch) Holk. Peter grew up on a small farm in Ozaukee County. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. After his service, Peter came home and started working construction where he became a master finish carpenter. Peter married his first wife Mary “Betty” Zernia and they had 4 children together. Peter would go camping around the state with family and friends, where he fell in love with the Northwoods.
In 1969 Peter and his friends purchased a small farm house in Drummond and the groups would come up for vacations together. Peter also loved snowmobiling and had the honor of being a part of the United States Snowmobile Association, he enjoyed being one of the race directors from 1969-1978. On June 2, 1989, Peter married his second wife, Peggy (Hupfer) Holk, and the couple bought out the cabin and began renovating it in hopes to make it their retirement home. In 1999 the couple’s dream came true and they retired up north in Drummond. Peter was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to go fishing, bear and deer hunting. During his time up north, he found the love of making elaborate diamond willow walking sticks and wood carvings .
Peter is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Anne Potter, Martha Dick, and Paul Holk; nieces and nephews, Judy Kowalewski, Jeanine Pyle, Joanne Holk, and Brian Holk; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many other nieces, nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Peter Holk Jr. and Nephew Tim Holk; son in laws Jon S Dick, and Steve D Potter; his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
