Phyllis J. (LaVoy) Mack, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.  She was born on September 29, 1936, to the late William (Bill) and Mary (Hazeart) LaVoy.  She was a 1953 graduate of East High School in Superior.  On April 23, 1955, Phyllis married the love of her life, Keith Mack.  They were married for nearly 59 years before Keith’s passing in 2014.  Phyllis worked for Douglas County at Middle River Health & Rehab for 20 years as a CNA, before retiring on July 31, 1993.

Phyllis loved the country and being outdoors.  In her younger days, she loved to snowmobile, taking many trips along the snowmobile trails and getting stuck.  She liked to golf and loved her horses and butterflies.  Her true love though, was dancing.  From square dancing to waltzing and anything in between, Phyllis and Keith never tired of being on the dance floor.

She is survived by sisters, Barbara Kennison, Missouri and Sharon (Ray) Liske, Texas.  Sister-in-law, Phyllis Swanstrom and brothers-in-law, Dick Mack and Tom Grimsrud.  Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Keith; and sisters, Agnes Smith, Mary Ann Grimsrud and Helen Weber.  Brothers-in-law, Roger Swanstrom, James Smith, Dave Kennison, Ernie Weber and sister-in-law, Ruth Mack.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to thank the caretakers and friends at Middle River Health & Rehab for the care and friendship for Phyllis over the years.
