Robert Arthur Scheman

Robert A. Scheman, age 95, of Sarona, WI, formerly of Kansas City, MO and a summer resident of Hayward, WI since 1953, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake, WI.  Bob was born on October 12, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI, to Ella and Herbert Scheamann.  He attended Milwaukee Public schools and received a BS degree in Electronic Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.   He was a veteran of World War II and was recalled by the Air Force for aircraft radar maintenance during the Korean conflict and assigned to a maintenance base in Japan. 

Bob was employed by AT&T Corporation for 30 years, first in Milwaukee then transferred to Kansas City.  After a three-year assignment, he was transferred to Chicago and remained there until his retirement except for a one-year special assignment in Washington DC, providing government engineering for the Vietnam War communications. Upon retirement, he returned to Kansas City where he was employed as an engineer for The General Services Administration, an agency of the US Government where he provided engineering support for the first Iraq war.

Bob was a Boy Scout Leader for seventeen years, starting in Cub Scouting and followed through the scouting program into the scout commissioner leadership.  The last assignment was serving as council roundtable commissioner.  He received a District Scouting Key and was elected to be a member of the exclusive Red Arrow Campers.

Bob was active in the local branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).  He held various leadership positions and was elevated to become a Senior Member. He also served in a leadership position in the Chicago Section of The Western Society of Engineers.  Bob was a Squad Leader in the Civil Defense group of Mt. Prospect, IL, which gave support to his city of residence in emergency situations.  Also, while living in Illinois, he was ordained an Elder in the United Presbyterian Church and served in the capacity of church property maintenance and upkeep. 

He will be laid to rest with military honors in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
